Your study material stays here
Rote saves your decks, cards, preferences, and review history in your browser’s local storage. The application does not upload this material to a Rote database. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to access it.
No account or advertising analytics
This version does not ask for an email address, create an account, or add advertising or third-party analytics scripts. Essential browser storage is used to save your study material and cache the workspace for offline access.
Hosting requests
Like other websites, Rote’s hosting and network providers may process request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, and browser information to serve the site and operate security controls. The site is hosted on our server and may use Cloudflare for DNS or delivery.
Backups and sharing
Exports download your information to your device. Keep backups somewhere safe. A shared-deck link contains the deck title and question-and-answer text in its URL fragment. Anyone with that link can read or import those cards. Use exported files rather than public links for private information.
Deletion
You can delete a deck or erase all study data in Settings. Clearing site data in your browser also removes local decks and history. This cannot be reversed unless you have a backup. Rote has no remote copy to recover.
